"I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being."
- Psalm 104
The Lutheran Church has always been a singing church, and we at Bethlehem enthusiastically embrace this musical tradition. Using our voices and instruments, we proclaim the Gospel, remember our common story, grow faith in ourselves and our children, and shape the way we live in the world.
At Bethlehem we believe that our musical tradition is a living tradition, and we are committed to using a wide variety of musical styles that help us connect to Christians across all times and all places: classical hymns, liturgical chant, contemporary anthems, and hymns and songs gathered from around the world.
Our current music ministries include:
Alissa Grissom grew up in Texas but has made Los Alamos her home since 2015. She has been singing in choirs since the 3rd grade and stayed active in music even while pursuing degrees in math and education. In 2020 she began work at Bethlehem in an interim role and later returned in 2022, this time to pursue the role more permanently. She feels a great deal of gratitude to be trusted with guiding the music ministry at Bethlehem. She holds strongly to the idea that you only need the desire to serve and an enjoyment of music to be involved in the music ministry.
